Luigi Circuit is a series of circuit courses from the Mario Kart series named after Luigi. This course, in one form or another, appears in the majority of Mario Kart installments, and excluding the course from Mario Kart: Super Circuit, it is among the simplest tracks in its respective games. Even though they are usually among the easiest tracks, they differ in size, features, and obstacles.

History[edit]

The first entry in the Mario Kart series to introduce a Luigi Circuit course was Mario Kart 64, in which circuit courses were referred to as raceways in international releases. Since then, three more iterations of Luigi Circuit have appeared throughout the Mario Kart series.

The first course of the Mushroom Cup in Mario Kart 64, Luigi Raceway is a simple course with a long straightaway, two large curves and little to no opportunity for shortcuts. The middle of the course also features a tunnel section, with the entrance adorning a large jumbotron.

Unlike other iterations of this course, Luigi Circuit appears as the first course of the Lightning Cup of Mario Kart: Super Circuit, and features several bends and curves. It is the first course in the series to feature rain, and so also features puddles as obstacles. The course takes place on an airfield, and features a Luigi-themed blimp taking off, which then re-emerges in the next course, Sky Garden.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Mario Kart DS
This Luigi Circuit, appearing as the first course of the Mushroom Cup in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, appears to have a layout similar to that of Luigi Raceway from Mario Kart 64, but the straightaways feature more curves, and the big bends are wider and feature Dash Panels; the larger of the two bends is also guarded by a Chain Chomp. The distorted straightaway in the middle is actually two narrow paths merged together, only separated by a barrier in 50cc races. In classes above 50cc, the barrier is removed, allowing racers to run into other racers going the opposite direction.

Mario Kart Wii The first course of the Mushroom Cup in Mario Kart Wii, this iteration of Luigi Circuit has a short and simple layout with easy curves and straightaways. The big bend at the end of the course is wider and features Dash Panels, but racers can also choose to take a shortcut through the sand using a Mushroom. Before the final bend, another Mushroom can be used to take a ramp in the sand and trick on it.
